GE Energy Offers New Reliability Services Portfolio

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (November 30, 2004) — GE Energy's optimization and controls group is now offering a new portfolio of maintenance and reliability consulting services to help power plant and oil and gas customers improve reliability and reduce costs by optimizing the way they manage and maintain their plant assets. The announcement was made today at Power-Gen International 2004 in Orlando, Fla.

The new portfolio offers on-site assessment services to evaluate the customer's specific situation. GE Energy also works with the customer to co-develop a detailed action plan for improvement. It offers the customer a proven five-phase process for program design and implementation, and a suite of implementation services and tool sets to help the customer put improvements in place and achieve results faster. These services and tools include Computerized Maintenance Management System(CMMS) implementation and optimization, asset criticality analysis, condition-based maintenance programs, reliability-centered maintenance, preventative maintenance optimization and spare parts inventory management. Industry studies have shown that a properly implemented reliability program — even in a small plant — can generate recurring savings of well over $2 million per year.

"Our new reliability services portfolio helps deliver these benefits to customers by strategically integrating maintenance and reliability methodologies, best practices, technology and culture change," says Ricardo Artigas, president of energy services for GE Energy. "All of these are necessary ingredients to help our customers fully optimize plant assets and save time while managing costs."
