Round Non-Segregated Bus Ducts

The round non-segregated bus duct is a type of metal-clad, three-phases bus duct for operation on 4.16 kilovolts, 13.8 kilovolts and 34.5 kilovolts systems. This bus duct is comprised of three tubular aluminum or copper bus bars arranged in a triangular configuration, and supported by a delta clamp assembly. The bars are located inside an aluminum tubular enclosure. This mechanical configuration offers superior strength as well as reduced weight when compared with previous steel or copper rectangular designs. Also, the triangular bus arrangement provides equalization of reactance between phases – no phase transposition is required on long runs.

The busses are non-ventilated and completely enclosed to help eliminate dust or dirt build-up on the bus insulation. These busses also provide ease of installation, since the length of individual enclosure sections is usually limited only by a customer's handling facilities. Insulation used in the construction of metal-clad bus ducts is designed to withstand hi-potential, impulse and corona tests identical to those used on metal-clad switchgear.
