Ceramic Matrix Composites

The Next-Generation Material System

GE provides a wide range of advanced ceramic matrix composite (CMC) material systems for aircraft and land-based turbine engines, rocket motors, aerospace hot structures and industrial applications. We specialize in material development, design consultation, CMC fabrication, machining, mechanical properties testing and non-destructive inspection.

We offer several material systems with properties suitable for a wide variety of applications. Also, our highly skilled engineers can help you modify components to take maximum advantage of the properties of CMC materials.

Product Directory

Melt Infiltration (MI) Products

Primarily used on the vanes, blades, shrouds and liners of a turbine engine hot section, this material system is light-weight, thermally conductive and offers a higher temperature capability than superalloys.

Chemical Vapor Infiltration (CVI) Products

This erosion resistant material system has a high specific strength and high stiffness, and can be used for rocket propulsion system, hot gas path and RLV/SOV airframe
