GateCycle™

Power Plant Simulation Software

Plant Design and Simulation Software

Calculates heat balances under design and off-design conditions for any type of thermal power plant. GateCycle enables you to generate the optimal design for your new plant or make the right modifications to an existing plant. Using the extensive capabilities for simulating your specific power plant, you can precisely predict plant performance to determine the optimal way to run your plant.

Product Overview

GateCycle software predicts design and off-design performance of combined cycle plants, fossil boiler plants, nuclear power plants, cogeneration systems, combined heat-and-power plants, advanced gas turbine cycles and many other energy systems. You can use GateCycle software for quick assessments, detailed engineering, design, retrofitting, re-powering and acceptance testing. Its component-by-component approach and advanced macro capabilities let you model virtually any type of system. Plant Design and Simulation Software

GateCycle software accurately predicts the effects influencing plant performance, such as:
  • Changing fuel types
  • Ambient variations
  • Multiple-pressure HRSG
  • Sliding pressure operation
  • Component fouling
  • Part-load operation
  • Pressure losses
  • Parallel HRSG sections
  • Steam injection
  • Fossil boiler operations
  • Hardware modifications
  • Cooling tower operations

GateCycle software is a powerful tool for both the gas and steam sides of power plant design and analysis. To model a gas turbine, you can select from the library of gas turbines or "build" your turbine component by component. By building your turbine with compressor, combustor and expander spools, you can easily model inter-cooling, reheat, compressed air storage and even cascading gas turbines. For the steam side, we include all of the component icons you need to model HRSGs accurately with multiple pressure levels, parallel sections and pressure losses. You can create plant models with several gas turbines and HRSGs with different configurations.

The CycleLink utility, included with GateCycle software, allows you to run GateCycle software analyses from within the Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet application.
