Hazardous Air Pollutants Testing

Test Methods Adapted for Each Application

Reliable and accurate measurement of formaldehyde and other hazardous air pollutants (HAPS) requires a level of expertise that is difficult to achieve. GE has invested in the development of testing methodologies and world-class combustion research facilities to evaluate the performance of emission reduction technologies such as oxidation catalysts. We have developed a unique understanding of the application of test methods such as CARB-430 for reliable measurement of aldehydes at low concentrations. Because numerous HAPS exist in trace concentrations, we use extensive sample preparation and quality assurance procedures to minimize the potential for sample contamination and biased results.

Our senior engineers and chemists work directly with regulatory agencies and our clients to adapt test methods for each application. For pollutants without a published test method, we develop custom sampling and analytical procedures that may include techniques developed by an industry or association, combinations of existing methods or modifications of standard water, waste water or industrial hygiene methods.
