Static Starter Systems
GE offers a Static Starter as a starting means for large gas turbine-generator. It eliminates the need for a separate starting device, such as an electric motor, diesel engine, torque converter, and associated auxiliary equipment.
To improve the level of dispatch reliability, GE now offers comprehensive retrofit services for sites wishing to add an additional starter or to cross configure adjacent power blocks with single starters. The retrofit service includes all the required engineering for the additional cable, medium voltage switches, and required control and protective systems modifications.
Features & Benefits
- Static Starter eliminates the need for a separate starting device while requiring less maintenance and less mounting space.
- Connectivity - can be configured to start one or multiple gas turbines
- Communications - peer-to-peer with Mark™ VI / VIe gas turbine controls and EX™2100 generator excitation systems on an Ethernet based network
- Shares same Toolbox software suite as the turbine and generator controls to simplify overall maintenance of the turbine-generator set control system
