Manufacturing Quality and Innovation
GE uses virgin PTFE resins in the manufacture of our expanded membranes, and is the only provider of membranes that produces 100% of the product.

Every step of the manufacturing process is monitored to produce a quality product for our customers. Our ISO 9001-certified quality system includes testing and inspections at all stages of manufacturing, from incoming raw materials to packing and shipping the finished product. GE solicits and evaluates feedback from customers and our field engineers to continually refine our product design and manufacturing techniques.

Bi-Component Lamination
We are the only manufacturer to use our exclusive patented Bi-Component lamination process for applying the ePTFE to several of our base fabrics. By laminating to individually coated fibers, we obtain a greater number of lamination points that are much smaller than those found on typical membrane products in which the PTFE membrane is laminated to singe points on the base fabric. As a result, Bi-Component Preveil* membrane is typically a stronger media with better airflow characteristics.

Using computerized and automated equipment, GE controls the various manufacturing variables including pore size, pore size distribution, and membrane thickness - all of which have tremendous impact on the effectiveness of the membrane. The physical characteristics of the membrane can be customized for optimal performance on a variety of base fabrics.

EPA and ASTM performance testing

The U.S. Environmental Agency (EPA) provided fabric filter manufacturers with the chance to test efficiency and pressure drop under the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. Each manufacturer was provided two opportunities for independent testing.

Woven fiberglass with Preveil* membrane (QG061) and polyester felt with Preveil membrane (QP131) were tested.

• Preveil membrane on fiberglass QG061 showed zero emissions during testing. Emissions data were below the detection limits of the testing equipment.
• Preveil membrane on polyester felt QP131 had extremely low emissions (PM 2.5) as well: 0.0000029 grains/dscf (0.038 milligrams/dscm)

The test method used for testing is the "VDI 3926, Part 2" is described in the Preveil ePTFE Membrane ETV Test Results document, located in Downloads. This test method has been approved by the American Society of Testing and Materials and is now known as "ASTM D6830".
