Integrated Pleat Alignment System (iPLAS*)
iPLAS is an innovative, patent-pending pleat alignment and retention system that replaces conventional strapping and banding. A formed thermoplastic polymer, iPLAS creates a rigid, integrated band providing strength and durability while retaining needed flexibility.
iPLAS has excellent resistance to chemical attack, hydrolysis, and abrasion.
Features & Benefits
- Formed-in-place design anchors the pleat tips firmly, ensuring evenly spaced and straight pleat alignment critical to proper cleaning and dust discharge from pleated elements
- Binds the pleated media firmly against the inner core, virtually eliminating failure of the filter element due to overflexing and pleat reversal
- Replaces conventional strapping systems (fabric straps and adhesive) that can be susceptible to chemical and hydrolytic attack
- Resists flex fatigue better than conventional fabric straps. The system has survived torture tests of over 500,000 flex cycles (simulated pulse cycles)
- Eliminates need for mechanical fastening systems (rivets) used on some pleated designs
- Contains no metal components, eliminating isolated conductive parts
- Proven durability for continuous operation in temperatures up to 265°F (130°C)
- iPLAS has successfully passed testing requirements as outlined in 21 CFR 177.1520, which governs components intended for use in contact with food.
