Reverse Air or Shaker Designs
Particulate is collected on the inside surface of the bag in baghouses using reverse air or shaker cleaning systems. The dust-laden gas enters through the dirty side (inlet) of the collector and flows up through the bag.
The particulate is filtered by the dustcake and the fabric, and clean air exits through the outside of the bag. Shaker and reverse air bag top and bottom designs vary by cleaning system and original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

- A Tuffskirt is a separate piece of fabric sewn around the bag body with a portion of the fabric extending below the disc to help protect it from wear and inlet abrasion.
- Cord Cuffs have a firm cord sewn into a hem or cuff and are used when the bag is clamped to a thimble.
- Snapband Cuffs with double-beaded grooved gaskets fit flat plate tubesheets.
- Compression Band bottom cuffs have a riveted stainless band sewn in the cuff to fit clampless thimbles.
- Disc Bottom bags have a round or oval enclosure attached to the bag body, using an overlock stitch on felts and lock stitch on wovens. Two-ply discs are traditionally sewn to woven glass bags.
