GE's Waukesha* VGF* Gas Engines

For nearly two decades, Waukesha’s VGF line of engines has consistently performed under extreme conditions in a wide range of both power generation and gas compression applications.

The VGF series of high-speed engines are built with the durability expected from a medium-speed engine. Designed for a wide range of stationary, spark-ignited, gaseous fueled applications, the compact VGF engine has a high power-to-weight ratio operating up to 1800 RPM.

Application

GE’s Waukesha VGF Series of engines are available in 6-, 8-, 12- and 16-cylinder configurations and are offered as either a bare engine or custom-packaged Waukesha Enginator generator set for a variety of applications, including gas compression, mechanical pump drive and oilfield power generation.

Waukesha’s VGF was structurally designed from the inside out to deliver continuous output bringing versatility to every application by offering the widest variety of options. The VGF Series of engines are built with industrial strength to handle continuous high rpm to 1175 horsepower.

Today, over 5,000 Waukesha VGF engines are operating in over 100 countries worldwide, driving compressors in gas-gathering, processing and transmission operations and providing electrical power for oil and gas fields.
Design

Waukesha’s VGF Series simplifies maintenance procedures. The engine design allows easy access to the oil pump, main bearings and rod bearings—without the need to lower the oil pan.

Commonality of parts between VGF models reduces the amount of inventory needed for servicing multiple units, or an entire fleet. Standard design features, such as independent heads, simplify and speed up maintenance work.

On-site Capabilities

Waukesha’s VGF Series, which offers maximum high speed continuous duty operation, provides durable stationary power in a compact design for lower packaging costs. Extended maintenance intervals and a high power-to-weight ratio ensure long life and reduced operating costs.
Testing Capabilities

All Waukesha gas engines are designed, built and tested at the Waukesha, Wisconsin USA manufacturing facility.
