Based on the proven design concepts of GE’s Jenbacher type 3 and type 6 engines, type 4 gas engines are characterized by high power density and outstanding efficiency in the 800 to 1,500 kW power range. Application
GE’s Jenbacher type 4 gas engines can be designed as generator sets, cogeneration systems, or as a container. Depending on customer specifications, a variety of gas types can be used to increase overall efficiency levels, reduce industrial emissions, and optimize the integration of all available engine-related heat sources.

Applicable heat sources include engine cooling water, oil, mixture gas, and exhaust gas.

Customers can dispose of environmental pollutants from landfills, agriculture, chemical, and mining sites, while using the gases for power generation simultaneously.

Applicable gas types include: natural gas, associated petroleum gas (flare gas), propane, biogas, sewage gas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, and other special gases (e.g., coke, wood, and pyrolysis gases).

Design
Type 4 gas engines incorporate proven technical features from our type 3 and type 6 engines. Designed to increase available power and efficiency and extend overall operating life, our type 4 gas engines offer an improved control and monitoring system that ensures reliability and ease of maintenance.

The flexible arrangement of a heat exchanger and two-oil plate heat exchanger on demand offer heat recovery with maximum thermal efficiency, even at high and fluctuating return temperatures.

The TecJet™ gas dosing valve offers a high degree of electronic control and accuracy, rapid response time and adjustment of air/gas ratio, and a large adjustable calorific value range.

A four-valve cylinder head optimizes swirl and channel geometry with advanced calculation and simulation methods that minimizes charge-exchange losses. A central spark-plug position enables optimal cooling and combustion.

The crack connecting rod—proven in the automotive industry—provides high dimensional stability and accuracy, reduced connecting rod bearing wear, and easy maintenance in our powerful stationary engines.

On-site Capabilities

With turbocharging, full output can be achieved at high altitudes, ambient temperatures, and tropical conditions.
Testing Capabilities

All modules are performance and load tested at our manufacturing facility in Jenbach, Austria, before being shipped to our customer.
