Monsoon & Heavy Rain Protection - Gas Turbine Inlet Systems
Monsoons and other heavy rains are a fact of life for many turbine operators, and in the tropics in particular, annual rainfall tends to occur during a relatively short and intense period. For turbines without suitable weather protection, heavy rain can be extremely problematic, and in severe cases can lead to turbine shut-down.
Heavy precipitation does not have to mean trouble. With the correct weather protection and filter elements, turbines can operate through even the most arduous rain storms, including typhoons and cyclones.
Features & Benefits
- GE recommends using one of our Altair Marine Vane Separators, which utilizes separation technology originally developed for use in ship-based gas turbine inlets. These systems provide rain protection that is many times more effective than traditional weather hoods.
- Our Altair separators have proven themselves many times in extreme weather, and are so cost-effective that we recommend them for many less severe environments as well.
