The PGT25+G4 incorporates a 17-stage axial-flow compressor with adjustable stator vanes on the first six compressor stages. The compressor is coupled to a two-stage high-pressure turbine. The low-pressure turbine is a mechanically separate two-stage rotor supported by two tilting pad bearings housed in a cylindrical cartridge to permit easy removal and reassembly.

• Aerodynamic blading design provides high efficiency at the design point and reduced speed. Changes include minor blade and stationary vane airfoil adjustments, providing the required mass flow increase.

• The 6100 rpm design permits direct coupling with the driven equipment, simplifying the system and enhancing the overall efficiency and availability of the plant.

• The effective area of the compressor discharge pressure seal was adjusted in order to maintain the optimum rotor thrust balance.

• The high-pressure turbine modifications include minor blade cooling improvements and proven material upgrades from recent aircraft engine technologies that provide improved higher temperature capability.

PGT25+ comparisons of increased base load power relative to the PGT25+ were made across a wide range of ambient conditions. In particular, during off-ISO conditions, as in cold day/hot day, the PGT25+G4 provides a 10 to 20 percent power increase.
