GE's air-cooled generators are an ideal choice for power system applications that demand simplicity and flexibility of operation. Because of the absence of a pressurized atmosphere within the generator, its structural components are simple and easy to handle, which facilitates routine maintenance.
We offer a complete line of air-cooled generators up to 191 MVA for either 50 or 60 Hz applications that are designed for maximum possible safety and reliability.

  • Air-cooled generators are produced in two basic configurations: open ventilated (OV) and totally enclosed water-to-air-cooled (TEWAC). The OV configuration draws air from the atmosphere to cool its active components, then exhausts the air back into the atmosphere. The TEWAC system re-circulates the cooling aircontinuously through the generator, while air-to-water heatexchangers remove heat from the air

  • Air-cooled platform ratings can reach up to 200 MVA

  • GE uses well-proven systems of insulating and voltage-grading materials to limit the risks of corona discharge damage

  • GE air-cooled generators are fully assembled before they are shipped, reducing on-site assembly to placement on the foundation, alignment with the turbine and connection to balance of plant equipment
