Liquid-Cooled Generators
GE liquid-cooled units include two groups: water-cooled and oil-cooled. (Oil-cooled units are no longer manufactured by GE, however, there are several still in operation).
GE water-cooled generators are exceptionally well suited to central station and combined cycle applications where output requirements exceed the cooling capabilities of air-cooled or conventional hydrogen-cooled designs.
Because high-output machines are important to the overall stability of the grid, reliability is a primary requirement for water-cooled generators. GE continues to improve their performance while maintaining their high reliability.
