Gamma Ray Tool (GRT)
|
The Gamma Ray tool (GRT) measures the naturally occurring gamma ray levels within the wellbore, as derived from natural isotopes within the formation adjacent to the tool. The log is used for identification of the formation and as a correlation device between logs when the tool is run in combination with other tools. |
Features & Benefits
GRT - Key features
- Includes large crystal for better resolution
- Can be run in combination with other UW tools, or by itself
- The short tool length eases rig up
Benefits of GRT
The Gamma Ray is used primarily as a correlation device to establish a reference point between various logging runs for both past, present, and future runs in a well and between wells in an area. This ensures depth accuracy for all data points for comparison purposes. The Gamma Ray tool can also assist in defining potential reservoir bearing areas within a well.
