Production Logging Fluid Identification Tools
It is essential to establish the hold-up of each fluid phase. The GE fluid identification technologies use the differences in density and electrical properties of oil, gas and water simultaneously, to accomplish this accurately.
Capacitance Water hold-up sensors measure the dielectric constant of the surrounding borehole fluid. Radioactive Density tools use low energy gamma rays to determine the downhole fluid density and the Differential Pressure Density tools measure the hydrostatic pressure of fluids in the wellbore. Finally, Gas Hold-up tools respond to molecular density of fluids, gas being significantly lower in density than oil and water.
