Filter House Technology
GE has developed a new solution for gas turbine air filtration to enhance efficiency and availability. Contaminating agents in the air, such as dust particles and salt oxides, can enter the gas turbine, reducing the overall efficiency of the engine and potentially causing serious mechanical damage. Fouling due to the ingestion of fine particles can seriously degrade the performance of the gas turbine axial compressor, thus reducing the machine power and efficiency. Furthermore, ingestion of fine contaminants may generate high temperature corrosion, clogging of the cooling holes, and particle fusion on the hot-gas path components of the gas turbine.
